2020 (A 1917 Parody), also known as 2020, is a 2020 American YouTube short comedy one-take film directed, produced, written, and edited by Stephen Ford and a parody of the 2019 film 1917.
It was shot entirely on a Fuji X-T3 with a Zhiyun Weebill-S. Due to the pandemic, 2020 took him over three months to shoot, reshoot and edit while dealing with faulty audio equipment, filming at dusk, safety regulations, scheduling conflicts, lost footage and so many more obstacles they had to jump over in order to fully produce the short.
Plot[]
In early 2020, amid the Australian bushfire season, it was observed that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, people are panic buying, causing long queues and closure of stores. In Los Angeles, with only a Walmart and 7-Eleven nearby and curfew starting soon, unemployed friends Michael and Colton are ordered by their friend Mo to buy toilet paper. Colton is especially nervous, knowing he is prone to danger by going outside.
As the California wildfires are visible and various Internet phenomena distracts them, Michael and Colton purchases a toilet paper at Walmart. They encounter a Karen who has COVID-19. To not possibly contract it, Michael heads home, while Colton continues to 7-Eleven. After being shot unconscious by kids' Nerf guns, Colton wakes up at night. The George Floyd riots prompt Colton to use an alternative road, where protesters are much more peaceful. To chagrin, toilet paper has sold out. With supplies said to be sufficient enough, Colton rests himself at the side of the store.
