- Producers initially wanted male nudity in the movie during pre-production meetings and director Mike Elliott even included showing some male nudity in one of the scenes (though it was a prosthetic), but it was ultimately deleted out of the final cut. This makes it the first American Pie movie out of all theatrical releases and spin-offs to have no male nudity.

- Despite the characters being in high school, the majority of the cast were in their early 20s. Darren Barnet, who played Grant, was 29 when the film premiered.
- In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Girls' Rules director Mike Elliott admitted that the film is "a pretty innocent picture." In other words, nobody is getting it on with a pie this time around. Even though the final cut that made its way to Netflix and VOD won't make you blush like the past few American Pie films. He said they filmed some pretty raunchy scenes, but Netflix ordered them to cut them out. The director said that most of the dirtiest bits were created by the movie's team of uncredited female writers. "They really made me blush. I can be kind of gross sometimes myself, but they had a lot of really, really raunchy ideas that couldn't be in the movie."
- The jazz version of the song "Dont You Forget About Me" is played before the start of the homecoming (Morp). The same song was used during in the prom the first American Pie movie.

- Mike Elliot revealed that he filmed one topless scene for the film but opted to leave it out of the final cut. However, he really wanted to include full frontal male nudity but he was forced to cut it out.
- According to screenwriter David H. Steinberg, the script for "Girls' Rules" was actually written only a year after the release of American Pie Presents: The Book of Love (2009), but the project spent ten years in development, and according to Steinberg, was originally just another teen sex comedy about four guys, but during development other writers came on and changed the gender of all the characters.
- Mike Elliott previously worked with Ed Quinn in Werewolf: The Beast Among Us (2012), and with Danny Trejo in Death Race 2 (2010).

- In the French dubbed version, they changed from "French lessons" to "Spanish lessons". But the movie shows France's clichés (berets, Eiffel tower, etc) so French viewers are puzzled.
