  • [Everything in the room fades away to last year; it was winter, and the Enchanted Objects hop up to the window.]

  • - [Mrs Potts] Goodness knows. We’ve searched every last corner.
  • [Cogsworth] I’m beginning to think he’s not in the castle at all.
  • (Lumiere looks out the window and sees the Beast outside.)

  • - Wonderful!
  • - [Gasps] No time to waste. We must find a way to get them together.
  • [Lumiere] Let’s go! Love will not wait.
  • (They went off to go find Belle.)
  • You really think she’s the one? Will she break the spell?
  • [Panting] I knew it from the moment I set eyes on her.
  • If anyone can reach the master, Belle can. Such a kind soul.
  • - [Lumiere]

  • - [Chip Giggling]

  • [Zoom back from the lesson into a mysterious room in the castle; a slow and dreary organ piece is heard as we see the keys playing themselves, followed by the various pipes. Fife, a flute, peeks over the cushion as the source is revealed as Forte, a massive pipe organ, who ends the music.]

  • Forte: [Chuckles] Fife, you approve?
  • Fife: Oh, maestro, it’s magnificent!
  • Forte: Oh, come along. It’s merely an opera… to bring the house down.
  • [Laughing]
  • Ooh!
  • [Grunting]
  • Is there a part for a piccolo?
  • Absolutely. [Laughing]
  • [He plays a quiet melody, causing a ghostly burst of music from the pipes to open a nearby chest.]

  • Forte: Yes. I know. Now, Fifey, in the midst of my crescendo, I thought I heard merriment outside the window. Have a little look-see, will you?

  • [He tries to move, but he is chained to the wall by restraints.]

  • [He opens the door revealing the old beggar woman.]

  • Prince: [Scoffs] I don’t need a rose. Go away, you wretched old hag! (The old woman becomes the Echantress.)
  • The Enchantress: You have been deceived by your own cold heart. A curse upon your house and all within it. Until you have found one to love you as you are, you shall remain forever… a beast.
  • [Growling, Screaming] [Snarling, Roaring]
  • [Flashback ends]
  • Forte: But we’ve come so far since then. We’ve risen above the tragedy.
  • Beast: Where is she?
  • Forte: I believe she’s gone to the boiler room, or so a little birdie told me.
  • Fife: [Chuckling] Tweet, tweet, tweet.
  • [Banging]
  • Oh!

  • [Groans]

  • (Beast has arrived in the boiler room, having knocked down the doors. Belle hums innocently, as Beast gets close to her. She gasps but continues humming.)
  • Beast: (sharply) What are you hiding? (He huffs and growls, finally snatching the yule log from Belle, as he then inspects it.)
  • Belle: It’s, uh, a Yule log.
  • Beast: Huh?
  • Belle: A-a Yule log. It’s a wonderful tradition. One log is chosen, and everyone in the house touches it… and makes a Christmas wish.
  • Beast: (bitterly) Mmm, wishes are stupid. [growls] You made a Christmas wish last year. (bellows) IS THIS WHAT YOU WISHED FOR?! [He roars, causing a flock of bats to fly through an open hole in the wall and above the boiler room.]
  • Belle: (remaining firm) No.
  • Beast: [Grunts]

  • Beast: (holding the log, mournfully) Prisoner.
  • (Belle then leaves the boiler room.)
  • Belle: [Sighs]
  • Chip: Hiya, Belle. You should see the ballroom. It’s all decorated and pretty. and there’s garlands everywhere. I think the master’s gonna be really excited when he finds out about Christmas.
  • Belle: Well, he, he already knows.
  • Chip: Really? Was he excited?
  • Belle: Actually, Chip, he’s forbidden it.

  • Belle: Mmm… [Disapprovingly] Mmm. (Chip imagines an ornament appearing on the tree and bringing the tree down with its weight to the ground, similar to the one from "A Charlie Brown Christmas". Chip frowns at this.) Nah. Too skinny. Come on.
  • Chip: [Exhales]
  • [They continue through the castle grounds, as Axe is seen on Belle's shoulder, as he groans at this. All the while, Beast watches them, coldly from his West Wing, as thunder rumbles. The door is heard creaking, as Lumiere enters.]
  • Lumiere: Ooo la-la.
  • Beast: Ohh, Lumiere.
  • Lumiere: (looking through the window, next to Beast) She’s beautiful, no?
  • Beast: Yes, and I’m hideous.
  • Lumiere: (softly) Not to mention ill-tempered.
  • Beast: (offended) What? (He notices the present next to the bell jar.) What is that?
  • Lumiere: Ooh, it looks like a Christmas present.
  • Beast: [Roars]
  • Lumiere: (keeping composure) Oh-ho-ho. It’s for you, Master. It’s from… a girl.
  • Beast: Mrs Potts?

  • Beast: Belle? (He walks over to the present, curiously, and goes to untie the bow.)

  • (Back inside, Forte gets an idea.)
  • Forte: Fife! [He sounds off blaring notes, as Fife gasps and looks at him.] Pay attention. I need you to pace when I think. The girl is evil, I tell you. She pulls him from my grasp. She fills his head with dreams of love and hope… and Christmas!
  • Fife: Well, what you gonna do? You can’t stop Christmas.
  • Forte: [Chuckles] No, but I can stop the girl.
  • (Outside, Sultan continues barking, as Belle and Chip have come to the last tree.)

  • Fife: Oh, dear, oh, dear! Oh, my heavens! Oh, dear!
  • (He spots her underneath the ice and toots)
  • Axe: (rushes over to Fife and chops the ice, freeing Belle) Oi, oi, oi, oi!
  • Belle: (Emerges from underneath the ice) Oh, Chip, thank goodness you're safe.
  • Chip: I wasn't frightened.
  • (The tree comes up underneath her and wraps the rope around her leg, pulling her back under the water)

  • (They all try to pull her back up, but she slips underneath the surface. Beast arrives, roaring. He jumps into the water and saves Belle)
  • Chip: BELLE!
  • Fife: Oh, dear! What have I done? It's all my fault.
  • Lumiere: We all share some blame, my friend, for daring to hope for a Christmas.
  • (In the dungeon....)
  • Beast: You said you'd never leave.
  • Belle: I wasn't trying to leave. I just wanted to make you happy.
  • Beast: You broke your word and for that, you will rot in this dungeon forever.
  • Belle: I should have known you'd never be anything but a Beast.
  • (In the main room, a bell tolls twelve)

  • Forte: Ah, it tears me up to see you this fashion, master. Why do you torment yourself? [referring to the rose] There's the symbol of your curse. (Indicating it) Destroy it! And end these adolescent notions of love and redemption. End your pain forever.
  • (The Beast lifts the cover off of the rose)
  • Forte: Yes! Do it! Smash it!
  • (The Beast growls and raises his arm to smash the rose. A petal falls and lands on the gift, which Belle left for the Beast next to the rose; he snaps out of it and notices it.)
  • Beast: Belle?
  • Forte: What are you doing here? What is this? Oh, a storybook. Does this one had pretty pictures you can color? (Laughs) Utterly dreadful, master.
  • Beast: No! This one's different. It's from Belle.
  • Forte: Well, that would account for the creative wrapping.
  • Beast: QUIET!!!!! I want to read.
  • [He sits down near the fire and begins reading.]
  • Belle: (Voice-over) Once upon a time, there was an enchanted castle. His master seemed as cold as winter. Deep inside his heart-----his cries of anger echoed through the stone wall of the castle--though surrounded by servants, he was all alone. And in that simple act of kindness, he knew someone cared. Christmas that year was spent exchanging humble gifts, but the greatest gift that anyone received was the gift of hope.

  • [He stands up]
  • Forte: No, master! Come back!
  • [Beast leaves]
  • Forte: She'll only prolong your torment!

  • [In Forte's room, Forte is not at all pleased]
  • Forte: So, Beast gets girl and it's a happy ending for everyone. Enchantment lifted and Forte fades into the background. No longer important, no longer needed. I THINK NOT!!!
  • [He begins playing loud music, which shakes the castle to pieces.]
  • Chip: What is this, Mama? What's going on?
  • [Forte starts laughing manically as the dungeon begins to collapse]
  • Fife: Forte.
  • (He leaves)
  • Mrs. Potts: Hurry now, hurry! (Trying to get everyone out of the road of the falling debris)
  • Forte: Can you believe I never took a lesson?!
  • (The floor between him and Belle separates)
  • Belle: Oh, dear! Help!
  • Beast: Belle!
  • Fife: Maestro, stop! What do you think you're doing?
  • Forte: Don't you see, Fife? They can't fall in love if they're dead!

  • Forte: (laughs evilly) So naive. You're second fiddle, Fife and that's all you'll ever be.
  • Beast: Forte!
  • Forte: We can remain as we are forever and ever! (Laughs evilly)
  • Beast: FORTE! (Enters his room; the music briefly stops) Enough!
  • Forte: Heavens! Master. YOU'RE NOT SINGING!!!
  • (He blasts the Beast with music)
  • (Belle places a plank of wood across the crack in the dungeon floor and leads everyone across the floor)
  • Belle: But be careful.
  • (Everyone enters the room. The shaking has almost knocked the rose and jar off the table)
  • Lumiere: Oh, no! The bell jar!
  • Cogsworth: Got it! Got it!
  • Angelique: Be careful!
  • Forte: (Yet blasting music) Is this happy enough for you, master?! I know I'M DOWNRIGHT GIDDY!!!
  • Fife: Master, the keyboard!
  • (Beast lifts the keyboard, breaking it and ending Forte's dark music. The music blasts fade out of the pipes.)
  • Cogsworth: I have it! I have it! Whoa! Whoa! (Puts the jar back on the table).
  • (The Beast throws his keyboard into Forte, destroying it. Forte screams and struggles to play; the restraints holding him to the wall break off and he comes tumbling down.)
  • Forte: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • (Belle and Beast get out of the way just as Forte crashes to the ground, never to be heard of again. Once everything has gone quiet, Belle and Beast reenter the room to see leftover music sheets float down amongst the remains of the now dead Forte.)
  • Beast: Forte.
  • (Fades to black. In the ballroom...)
  • Mrs. Potts: Oh, yes, it is lovely.
  • Lumiere: And you said it was impossible.
  • Angelique: Uh-uh-uh-uh, I said it was impossible without me.
  • Cogsworth: Everyone, shh-shh. Here they come!
  • Chip: Wow!
  • Cogsworth: The setting is perfect. Oh, aren't they beautiful?
  • (Belle and the Beast enter, dressing the same clothes they wear in the dancing scene in the original movie)
  • Belle: It's wonderful!
  • (Everyone cheers)
  • (Present time, back in the transformed castle...)
  • Mrs. Potts: And what a wonderful Christmas it was. I suppose if anyone saved Christmas, it was Belle.
  • Prince Adam: Merry Christmas, one and all!
  • All: Merry Christmas.
  • Cogsworth: A Merry Christmas to you, sir.
  • Lumiere: Merry Christmas, everyone.
  • Belle: I believe we have a little something for you, Chip.
  • Chip: A present? Oh, boy! Thank you all!
  • (The Prince removes a package from his coat and hands it to Chip)
  • Chip: Oh, look, Mama, a storybook! Will you read it to me?
  • Mrs. Potts: I'd love to, son.
  • Chip: Oh, boy!
  • Prince Adam: Maestro.
  • Fife: Yes, master?
  • Prince Adam: Would you do us the honor, old friend?
  • Fife: I'd be delighted.
  • (Music strikes up. The Prince Adam leads Belle out onto the balcony and gives her a gift. She opens it and finds a single rose. They turn and look out at the night heavens together)
