Black Bag is an American spy thriller film directed by Steven Soderbergh and written by David Koepp. It was released on March 14, 2025.

The film stars Cate Blanchett, Michael Fassbender, Marisa Abela, Tom Burke, Naomie Harris, Regé-Jean Page, and Pierce Brosnan.

Plot[]

When intelligence agent Kathryn Woodhouse is suspected of betraying the nation, her husband - also a legendary agent - faces the ultimate test of whether to be loyal to his marriage, or his country.

Production[]

The production of the film was first announced in January of 2024. Steven Soderbergh was named the director and Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender were to star. In March of 2024, Regé-Jean Page, Marisa Abela, Naomie Harris, Pierce Brosnan and Tom Burke were announced to join the cast.[1]

Focus Features acquired the distribution rights to the film, which was released on March 14, 2025.[3]

Box office[]

The film made $2.7 million on its first day. It went on to earn $7.6 million in the first weekend of release, finishing second behind the film Novocaine.[4]

Critical response[]

On Rotten Tomatoes, the film received an 8.1/10 in the first week after its release.
