Every so often, a "killer app" comes along that makes people want to buy a certain technology. In the early days of home computers, one of the first ones was VisiCalc. With it, you could make an adjustment and see immediately how that would affect other calculations. VisiCalc was overtaken by Lotus 1-2-3, but both gave people reasons to view home computers as a serious tool. Later on, the Infocom text adventures gave people reasons to buy computers just to play games, and Myst and The Seventh Guest gave people reasons to add CD-ROM drives onto them.

The movie "Ready Player One" may be my killer app when it comes to an 4K UHD TV. I haven't fallen into the trap of "new format, gotta get it now" like others do, but for this movie, I might.

    I ga…

Avengers: Infinity War will be the epic saga that we all have been waiting for. It will tell the tale of a cosmic battle where characters are guaranteed to leave the safe confines of planet Earth and confront the mighty Thanos. We know from the Infinity War trailer that debuted at D 23 that some characters do find themselves on another planet. This leaves us with the question regarding  how much of Infinity War will be taking place on Earth compared to other cosmic settings.

From everything that I’ve read on the internet and my personal speculation, it does seem like Avengers: Infinity War will be splitting its time quite evenly between Earth and other cosmic bodies and planets. Infinity War will have a lot of different moving parts along w…

If you are on the lookout for trashy and forgettable horror films, then you will find many every year. But, that is not what this article is about. There are horror movies that that play upon our greatest fears in the most creative fashion possible. They are able to create moments of tension and present us a dark and gloomy atmosphere, that is the true definition of terrifying. In this blog post we go through some of the horror movies that I’ve generally liked and have given the genre new hope and direction.

Now if you remember Shaun of the Dead is a comedy movie then you are not mistaken. The movie is both a comedy a horror movie. What Shaun of the Dead does so well is fuse both the genres in such a fashion that you find yourself both amus…

Disney has been on a roll ever since ‘The Jungle Book’ was a massive out. The Jungle Book was the green light that disney needed to adapt their classics into live-action and soon we had ‘Beauty and the Beast’. The Beauty and the Beast turned out to be the hit that Disney hoped for and now we are gearing up for the next big live-action movie from the Disney camp. No points for guessing the name of the movie though. It’s Aladdin and it will be one of the studio's next classics that will be adapted. But, all of this is old news to be honest. What’s new although is that Guy Ritchie is looking at a major actor to play the villain in the movie. And, while I’d advise you to take the rumor with a huge grain of salt, it's still quite exciting. As p…

Whoever thought that animated movies were just something kids would fancy could not have been more wrong. Animation has become a full-fledged category of filming with subcategories which pander to kids and adults. And while Disney is trying to convert all its animated movies to live action ones, more animated movies keep on coming. 2017 is no different when it comes to variety in terms of animated movies. With movies like The Lego Batman even ascending in the list of the biggest blockbusters this year. If you are wondering what movies are in store for you for the second half of 2017, you have come to the right place. Here is a list of top 5 movies you should not miss in the second half of 2017.

The folks at Fandom HQ periodically review the features they have for wikis and decide if they're used enough to make updating them worthwhile. One of them was the Top 10 Lists. Despite the name, a Top 10 List was not restricted to just ten items. People could add more items as time went on. But at some point, I guess you could say, "these are the top ten entries that received the most votes".

What Fandom found when they did their review is that it wasn't being used as much as it could and devoting the time to modernize and fix the code would mean they couldn't work on other features. So they let us know that next week, they are going to be shut down.

I went through the lists that had been made here. At one time, there were a few people crea…

Here's another review I just wrote for that other site and it's for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

I saw Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice during the week after it premiered. I had read some of the reviews that amounted to saying it was okay but could have been better. One I agreed with is that the movie did a good job of setting up why Bruce Wayne hates Superman, though I think that line of "if there's even a 1% chance he could be bad, we have to take him out" was a bit extreme. Another review brought up some fans' objections to Batman using guns, even if some of it was in a dream sequence, but I didn't have a problem with that. My take on this Batman is he's practical enough to use guns if necessary, rather than the previous stances o…

    Review: Zootopia

    March 9, 2016 by RRabbit42

I originally wrote this for another site, but I am going to share it here. Hopefully, we'll get more people reviewing the movies they've seen.

This week, we've got Zootopia, the latest computer animated movie from Disney, or if you're in the UK, it's called Zootropolis because I guess it's too similar in title to Zooropa by U2. The premiere date there is March 25th, so we'll have to wait to see if anything else was changed since the main city is named Zootopia and there's a "Welcome to Zootopia" sign in the movie.

It's the story of the Earth without humans but the animals have developed equivalent technology and cultures: pop music, electricity, cameras, cars, trains, parking meters, smart phone and apps, clothing, you name it. And that city of Z…

Hello. This is the second installment in my review series. This is not the worst film I've seen, but it's definitely one of them. This movie was so bad, I hope parents would rather invest in earplugs than watch this. I hope the next thing the Chipmunks make is a fur coat. So If I have my will by my side, here I go, and review this thing. Notice how I called it a thing and not a film.

This review is going to be awfully short, because I don't care about it, and no one wanted to see it. But heck, I'll just wing it. Dave (Jason Lee) is dating a female, but the Chipmunks don't like it, so they want them to break up, but Dave goes to Miami, and they think Dave will propose, so they need to go on a supposed Road Trip, or apparently, a Road Chip, b…

Honestly I don't even know how I got seats, HECK, even tickets, On opening night! The theater was filled with fans so I just sat in a corner and tried to avoid them.

Then, finally, the movie starts. And to start it off, it immediately says "Luke is missing," So I had a sort of mixed reaction through out the audience. Some gasps and some people didn't really care. So the remains of the Galactic Empire seek to destroy Luke (Mark Hamill), but, his sister, Leia (Carrie Fisher)…

I got to see The Peanuts Movie when it first came out and let me just say, I enjoyed it very much.

I though the film stayed true to Charles M. Schultz's legacy and some of the scenes in the movie featured events from the comic strip (such as Snoopy & the Red Baron and of course, Lucy pulling the football away from Charlie Brown).

I laughed at a couple of scenes in the movie, mostly of Snoopy and his funny antics. One thing I wished they would've mentioned is the real name of the Little Red-Haired Girl. It would've been nice to know.

This is how I felt about the Peanuts Movie from my point of view. I enjoyed it very much and if you're a fan of the Peanuts Gang, then this is the movie to see.

The upcoming remake of Point Break has just released a new teaser poster and a featurette on stunts in the upcoming film. What's going on, guys, I'm back with another film that I loved this year, I'm a huge fan of the first two Terminator films, I love the first two, the second one is my favourite action film of all time and I was bummed out by T3 and Terminator Salvation and so this one has really brought back my love for James Cameron's first two classics and while it may have some flaws, I really liked this film. This is my late review of Terminator: Genisys.
