Editing shift progress report
Here's a progress report on the need to shift what is being edited to the more important parts, namely pages for the movies, characters, actors, directors, composers, crew and galleries.
As of today, all of the Home Media and Supplement pages have been
locked down. Most weren't protected until just this week because I
couldn't find a way to automate it. I could only reduce how much
time it took. When you're looking at about 5,500 pages, it's
tedious doing it by hand. I finally just had to spend most of a day
doing it to get it done.
Now that the editing shift is fully in effect, I will be looking at the following to evaluate how effective it is:
- People leave and don't come back, especially if Home Media and Supplement pages were the only type…

- 5 Storytelling with Bear and Sense-Sational 2000 VHS
Shift in editing starting March 1st
March 4 update:
This was started on time, but I found that there's over 5000 pages and each one has to be individually protected. The first 200 pages have the three month expiration. They will be editable again in June. For the rest, I am setting them to the June 30 so that no matter how long this takes, they will unlock at the same time.
Moviepedia is out of focus. A lot of work is being done on the wrong parts of the wiki.
Too many people are spending their time only working on Home media and Supplement pages. They're completely ignoring the movies, actors and people who make the movies because apparently to them, it's more important for everyone to know that there are warnings from the FBI about copyright, that what people say in commentar…

Adopting Moviepedia
November 25, 2021 update: While talking with our Wiki Representative about a different issue, I mentioned this adoption and they were able to grant me bureaucrat rights. So the wiki's adopted and no participation from the rest of the wiki members is necessary at this time.
This blog is to announce that I will be working on adopting this wiki. I'm an admin here so there's a lot I can do for maintenance and updates. But there are limitations on how far an admin can promote or demote other users. Full user rights changes for anything specific to a wiki are handled by bureaucrats. Our only bureaucrat has been gone for almost three years now and hasn't responded to any of the messages I left for them. The only other admin beside myself has been …
Seeking bureaucrat rights
We're getting close to three years now since the only bureaucrat for this wiki was last here, and it's now just over a year since the only other admin, CoolStarWars1, was last here. I think I'm just going to have to accept that neither one of them might not come back.
So I'm making this official. I am going to start working on obtaining bureaucrat rights for this wiki. The first attempt will be to make a request to FANDOM staff to grant them as a special case. If for some reason they say no, I'll go through the adoption process in December, which is the earliest I'd quality to turn it in.
The purpose of this is to be able to grant administrator or bureaucrat rights to other users. I'm an admin right now, so those two rights are higher than w…
Moviepedia… Assemble
This is the companion to the Account required starting September 1, 2021 blog.
To help see which people would be good candidates to have extra user rights, I have a list of the issues Moviepedia is currently experiencing and what each of us can do to fix them. Those who can tackle these issues will show they’re helping to build the wiki and should be considered to become a Thread moderator for the Discussions area, Content moderator for the main part of the wiki, or Administrator to help with the more advanced parts of maintaining a wiki.
Being able to grant those rights won’t be available until the end of the year, which will give me time to evaluate what’s being done and see who’s ready for more responsibility.
Issues:
- No one is putting anyt…
Account required starting September 1, 2021
TLDR summary: An account would be required to edit here starting in September. It's now active.
Back in December, I proposed we might have to require everyone to
have an account in order to edit here. This was prompted by the the
conversion to the Unified Community Platform (UCP) happening all
across Fandom that makes it nearly impossible to talk with someone
who doesn’t have an account. If the Message Wall is active, which
it is here, you can’t through it. The only way you can is to shut
it off so it reverts back to the User Talk pages, or you keep the
Wall active, create a User Talk-like page and set a block so you
can tell them in the block reason “go look at this page”.
The first option involves going old school and doesn’t really fit an…

Sorry, I really like achievements. I hope you don't mind me just making this blog (or maybe more) to get some.
shared universes are going Multiverse
A shared universe is a modern movie marketing concept popularized by the overwhelming success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe from Marvel Studios. After the several false starts, DC Films decided upon a cinematic Multiverse of multiple different worlds rather than being bound by a single continuity like Marvel. Other studios have experimented in expanding non-superhero franchise with movies like Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. Godzilla vs. Kong was a surprise hit, indicating that more spinoffs of WB's kaiju "Monsterverse" will be produced. Historians will point out that the Universal Monsters of the the 1940s and 50s innovated this concept long ago. A modern "Dark Universe" was attempted with Tom Cruise' Mummy reboot but it was abandone…
Disney Sells 21st Century Fox to Fox Corporation
After just few years, Disney finally decided to sell 20th Century Fox and 21st Century Fox assets, to fix the future of Hollywood.

When Disney sells 20th Century Fox and 21st Century Fox assets, all six mass multimedia companies can do great things.
- Disney decided to acquire both companies, The Jim Henson Company and Hyperion Pictures (with its animation division, Hyperion Animation Company, Inc.).
- When Disney sells Fox, Walt Disney Television brought back its name, Disney-ABC Television Group.
- When Disney sells Fox, Disney decided to relaunch its all-animation channel, Toon Disney, this time as a 24-hour comme…
Requiring an account to edit here
This blog has been superseded by Account required starting September 1, 2021. This one may be deleted in the future but has been kept for reference for the time being.
I wanted to give everyone advance notice that I will be activating
the requirement not long from now that you have to have a Fandom
account to edit on this wiki. It isn't because of a problem with
users. It's because we don't have a way of communicating with
people who don't have an account without having to block them to
get their attention.
Usually when a wiki turns off anonymous editing, it's because they're seeing a lot of poor edits by people who aren't logged in, so they think if they shut that off, it will fix the source of the problems. I know from first-hand experienc…
The Princess and the Frog VS the Swan Princess
In 1994, little known studio Crest Animation release The Swan Princess, a fairy tale musical based on Swan Lake. It ticks almost every box of a Disney classic: a beautiful princess, a handsome prince, catchy musical numbers, obnoxious talking animals, and an evil sorcerer. They even released a bunch of Swan Princess merchandise.
The Swan Princess is based on no discernible movie. The small studio ripped off the Disney formula and hoped harassed parents would pick up the VHS, mistaking it for a Disney Princess movie.
Perhaps this is why, years later, Disney got its revenge with The Princess and the Frog. Angry fans of the smaller budget movie complained that the way Naveen (in frog form) looks and behaves similarly to Jean-Bob, Odette’s French…
Movie theaters temporarily closing due to coronavirus
Everyone knows how the coronavirus disease labeled COVID-19 is affecting all of our lives. It initially may have been downplayed as looking like it wouldn't be a big deal or would stay over in China. Neither turned out to be the case, so now the focus is on slowing the spread, and that means businesses, schools and events are being closed to keep people from gathering there.
Putting a limit on meetings where people can gather started at 250, with under that allowed if precautions were taken. Limits enacted by individual states in the USA became national limits and they dropped rapidly to where it's now at a limit of 10.
In between then, TV shows and movies began announcing they were halting production and the release of some movies were dela…

A year of Robin Williams
Not long after Robin Williams passed away on August 11, 2014, I was contacted by Fandom staff to see if I wanted to commemorate Robin's life here on Moviepedia. At the time, I wasn't ready to do it but I kept the idea in the back of my mind to do it some point in the future and began buying his movies as I shopped at places like Half Price Books. This August 11th will mark five years since his death and more information has been published about his life and career, so now is the time to start the retrospective.
There are many ways Robin's films can be divided up. Comedies, dramas and animated movies is the easiest. Dividing by whether he had a starring role or a supporting role is another. A third would be a chronological look at how his sk…
Review: Deadpool 2
I finally have a kind-of review of Deadpool 2, but the review part is going to be smaller because I want to talk about its impact and significance.
The first Deadpool movie introduced us to the version closer
to the comic books than what was in X-Men Origins: Wolverine
and it and DP2 rightly took potshots at the Origins version. It
showed movie studios it was okay to be irreverent with a bloody,
violent and profane superhero movie and you can have a
non-traditional marketing campaign, as long as you don’t treat the
audience like they’re stupid.
DP2 picks up two years later. Wade Wilson has been taking on organized crime, using at least one Dolly Parton song as accompaniment while taking them out. He’s successful enough at it that I’m guessing it’…

Review: Aliens Ate My Homework
Aliens Ate My Homework is a movie that would have comedical experience for kids, teens, and family. This is maybe the funniest movie title I ever heard of. A 12-year-old boy named Rod was doing homework until an alien ship crashed into his room, instantly finishing his homework when his classwork gets disintegrated. Aliens must have Rod and his cousin Elspeth to help them save the world from total annihilation, perhaps from more evil aliens. Aliens in his room would quickly hide when somebody open the door to his room, acting as a cover-up for others other than Rod. His cousin hear noises in front of the door on the outside and suspicious about that but didn't open the door, maybe because alien may have communicated with her telepathically…

Friendly reminder about pages
Hey, everybody! Just wanted to post a friendly reminder - when creating or editing a page on Moviepedia, please remember to create it yourself. This means do not copy and paste information directly from another website such as Wikipedia. This Wikia should have its own feel and uniqueness to it, therefore, all pages created on actors, films, etc. should be written by you.
Thanks!
Review: Seven in Heaven
Seven in Heaven is a rhyming title for the movie. Although it doesn’t have a whole ton of action, this movie is an interesting supernatural one. Teenagers are abundant and abound in this movie. People get together in a house for a party. They discovered a master closet and within it a “closet within a closet”. They play a card game called “Seven in Heaven” where somebody that tag them red would sit in the “closet within the closet” for seven minutes. Jude and June, what a rhyming couple!, were tagged red and sit in the closet for seven minutes and thought they’ll get out like if nothing changed. But then the story gets really strange even for a fiction. They get out but no ones there and people were acting crazier in the party. They went b…

Review: Ready Player One
Every so often, a "killer app" comes along that makes people want to buy a certain technology. In the early days of home computers, one of the first ones was VisiCalc. With it, you could make an adjustment and see immediately how that would affect other calculations. VisiCalc was overtaken by Lotus 1-2-3, but both gave people reasons to view home computers as a serious tool. Later on, the Infocom text adventures gave people reasons to buy computers just to play games, and Myst and The Seventh Guest gave people reasons to add CD-ROM drives onto them.
The movie "Ready Player One" may be my killer app when it comes to an 4K UHD TV. I haven't fallen into the trap of "new format, gotta get it now" like others do, but for this movie, I might.
I ga…

Earth Will Be Witnessing a Lot of Action in Avengers: Infinity War
Avengers: Infinity War will be the epic saga that we all have been waiting for. It will tell the tale of a cosmic battle where characters are guaranteed to leave the safe confines of planet Earth and confront the mighty Thanos. We know from the Infinity War trailer that debuted at D 23 that some characters do find themselves on another planet. This leaves us with the question regarding how much of Infinity War will be taking place on Earth compared to other cosmic settings.
From everything that I’ve read on the internet and my personal speculation, it does seem like Avengers: Infinity War will be splitting its time quite evenly between Earth and other cosmic bodies and planets. Infinity War will have a lot of different moving parts along w…
List of horror favorites that redefined the genre
If you are on the lookout for trashy and forgettable horror films, then you will find many every year. But, that is not what this article is about. There are horror movies that that play upon our greatest fears in the most creative fashion possible. They are able to create moments of tension and present us a dark and gloomy atmosphere, that is the true definition of terrifying. In this blog post we go through some of the horror movies that I’ve generally liked and have given the genre new hope and direction.

Tom Hardy As Jafar In Aladdin Would Be Amazing
Disney has been on a roll ever since ‘The Jungle Book’ was a massive out. The Jungle Book was the green light that disney needed to adapt their classics into live-action and soon we had ‘Beauty and the Beast’. The Beauty and the Beast turned out to be the hit that Disney hoped for and now we are gearing up for the next big live-action movie from the Disney camp. No points for guessing the name of the movie though. It’s Aladdin and it will be one of the studio's next classics that will be adapted. But, all of this is old news to be honest. What’s new although is that Guy Ritchie is looking at a major actor to play the villain in the movie. And, while I’d advise you to take the rumor with a huge grain of salt, it's still quite exciting. As p…
5 Animated Movies To Look Forward To In 2017

Animation has become a full-fledged category of filming with subcategories which pander to kids and adults. With movies like The Lego Batman even ascending in the list of the biggest blockbusters this year. If you are wondering what movies are in store for you for the second half of 2017, you have come to the right place. Here is a list of top 5 movies you should not miss in the second half of 2017.

Angry Birds - My Review
Hello people of MoivePedia, today, I am going to be reviewing a movie that came out this Friday, which is based on the popular iPhone app, Angry Birds. As you may or may not know, I am a fan of the game itself, but when I found out there was a movie in the making, I got concirned. How are the people behind this, going to stretch the small plot-point of the game, into a 90 minute movie? Anyways, onto the actual review.
