Plot[]
Upon learning of an engine malfunction, NASA's first manned flight to Mars is cancelled. So as not to disappoint an anxious audience, they decide to fake the mission and air that live on TV. However, when word gets out that the astronauts (James Brolin, Sam Waterston, and O.J. Simpson) are to be killed, they go on the run. Meanwhile, a reporter (Elliott Gould) suspects something is up with the mission and goes on the case.
