Charlize Theron (born August 7, 1975) is a South African and American actress and producer. One of the world's highest-paid actresses, she is the recipient of various accolades, including an Academy Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and a Golden Globe Award. In 2016, Time named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world.

Charlize Theron was born in South Africa on August 7, 1975 to parents Gerda Martiz and Charles Theron. She is of French, Dutch and German ancestry. Her father died in 1991 after he was shot by Theron's mother, which was a result of him attacking both Gerda and Charlize. Gerda faced no charges since the shooting was in self-defense.
Career[]
Charlize Theron originally planned on being a dancer but got a modeling contract at the age of sixteen. From there she began her acting career. She became most famous in 2003 for her portrayal of serial killer Aileen Wuornos in Monster. She later won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2004. She got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2005. In 2011 she starred in the film, Young Adult, and she has been nominated for several awards for her performance. In 2012 she starred in the film Prometheus as an official of the Weyland Corporation, a film which was directed by Ridley Scott.
