Chris Hemsworth (born August 11, 1983) is an Australian actor best known for playing Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Bio[]
Australian actor Chris Hemsworth was born on August 11, 1983 in the city of Melbourne. His family later moved to Phillip Island, south of his hometown. After attending Heathmont Secondary College, he took on a career in acting, making a regular debut in an Aussie television show called Guinevere Jones.
Hemsworth’s claim to fame is a stint in the Aussie soap Home and Away, which is aired across the world. Originally auditioning for the role of Robbie Hunter (which ultimately went to Jason Smith), he was rejected but later recalled as troubled personal trainer Kim Hyde. He held the role until 2007, when he left the show, although his character appeared in a few subsequent episodes.
Recently, Hemsworth trained his sights on Hollywood. After a relatively small (but crucial) role in the movie Star Trek, as James Kirk’s father, he took roles in other upcoming major releases such as Cabin in the Woods, Red Dawn, and the lead role in Thor.
Both of Chris's brothers are also actors. Older brother Luke and younger brother Liam, who is set to play Gale in the 2012 film The Hunger Games.
