Daniel Isn't Real is a 2019 American psychological horrors film directed by Adam Egypt Mortimer and based on the book In This Way I Was Saved by Brian DeLeeuw. The cast of the film consists of Miles Robbins, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sasha Lane, Mary Stuart Masterson, Hannah Marks, Chukwudi Iwuji, and Peter McRobbie.

The film was released in the United States on December 6, 2019.

Plot[]

College student Luke Nightingale is paralyzed by anxiety over his future, his social life and his responsibility to his mother, who struggles with paranoid delusions and a hatred of her own reflection. While at his childhood home, he unlocks his old dollhouse, releasing his childhood imaginary friend Daniel, who Luke locked in the dollhouse. Initially, Daniel helps Luke succeed in school, prevent his mother's suicide attempt and get a girlfriend. However, as Daniel gets more aggressive with his demands, causing harm to Luke and those around him, Luke realises that Daniel may be more than just an imaginary friend.
