Daniel Jacob "Dan" Radcliffe (born July 23, 1989) is an English actor, best known for his portrayal of Harry Potter in the Harry Potter films.
History[]
Daniel is the only child of Alan Radcliffe and Marcia Gresham, born at Queen Charlotte and Chelsea's Hospital and by age 5, he wanted to become an actor. Radcliffe began his acting career in 1999 with a BBC television-film adaptation of David Copperfield. His first film role came in 2001, with the Tailor of Panama. In the same year, the first film in the Harry Potter franchise, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, was released. In June 2024, Radcliffe won his first Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his performance as lyricist and playwright Charley Kringas. Other awards include a WhatsOnStage Award for Best Actor and 6 Broadway.com Audience Choice Awards. He has also been nominated for 4 Drama Desk Awards, 4 Drama League Awards, and 2 Outer Critics Choice Awards.
Personal Life[]
On March 25th, 2023, his rep confirmed that his girlfriend, Michigan born American actress Erin Darke who met him on the set of their film "Kill Your Darlings" in 2012 was expecting their first child, then a month later in April, the baby was welcomed into the world, a boy as confirmed by Radcliffe himself during an interview in July 2023.
Dan has DCD, or Dyspraxia, stating in August of 2008 that it made him "crap" at everything. He also stated that he has been teetotal for the past decade since 2010.
He got a base guitar lesson from Potter co-star, Gary Oldman, who played Harry's godfather, Sirius Black, and revealed that one of his favorite bands is The Red-Hot Chili Peppers.
The actor resides in Fulham and the burroughs of Manhattan in NYC
