Mission: Impossible is a series of action spy thriller films based on Bruce Geller's television series of the same name. Mainly produced by and starring Tom Cruise, alongside various others, the film series is a continuation of both the 1966-73 original series and its 1988-90 revival series, with the first film, 1996's Mission: Impossible, taking place six years after the latter. The franchise follows the missions of the IMF's main field team under the leadership of Ethan Hunt (Cruise) to stop an enemy force, all the while preventing an impending global disaster.
As of 2023, there have been seven Mission: Impossible films to date, the latest being 2023's acclaimed Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One
