Black Hole Alien Brain Zombies! is a 2021 American sci-fi experimental comedy satire film, written by Dovin Melhee and based on the short story "Invitation". It was produced by Metatron Research LLC. The soundtrack was written and performed by alternative band Psyberdelic Psyberdelix. In the film a secret experimental lab accident creates a black hole, which actually hides a highly advanced alien intelligence, that wants to take over the universe. This begins by transmitting crazy trippy messages encoded to turn humanity into zombies.

Plot[]

The movie opens with narration describing an alien entity that evolves to an interdimensional being with god like powers. The style then switches to a science documentary covering a secret project within the laboratories of Metatron Research LLC. A new device is being tested to open a dimensional portal to the multiverse, but instead creates a black hole with mysterious characteristics.

A lab scientist then recounts the events in a status report to a female superior. He explains that after the black hole was invoked, many of the lab workers have become sick and are now behaving like zombies. Near the end of his report the scientist statements and voice becomes erratic, as he begins to hallucinate and is also transformed into a zombie.

The narration then explains that the black hole actually hides the powerful alien entity that was accidentally accessed by the portal device and is now causing the spread of a zombie pandemic. It further explains that the "zombification" is part of a process in which the victims mind is absorbed by the alien. The scene then goes back to the beginning of the project when the device was first invoked. Then successive weird scenes present abstract messages, images and sounds as they are transmitted by the alien entity.

Near the end the alien declares, "I am, I am Meta, I am Metatron, the highest of celestial beings." With a plot device similar to Deus Ex Machina, Metatron is the same name as both the research and production companies. This twist is meant to subtly imply that the entity created and is controlling the fictional reality of the movie, as well as the viewers actual reality, a simulation multiverse and metaverse. Also, the "celestial being" claim is meant to hint that the transcendent evolution opening is a possible origin story for angelic beings.

The final message from the alien entity welcomes you the viewer and says your consciousness has been absorbed successfully. It then says you are now part of an interdimensional hive mind, and thanks you for watching.

Production[]

The movie was released in December 2021. It is produced in a low budget indie style and contains long sequences of experimental psychedelic images and sounds, as well as EDM, ambient and industrial music. Two 2 minute movie trailers were also released.

Reception[]

The movie received favorable reviews from several underground music critics. Mike Haberfelner of (re)SearchMyTrash wrote that despite its intentionally grindhouse-y title Black Hole Alien Brain Zombies is a highly experimental piece of cinema, pieced together from stock footage and odd CGI imagery that follows a strictly associative narrative style and often drops narration altogether for music and imagery. And the result is quite fascinating, a one hour trip into absolute weirdness that's really more an experience than a movie - and a totally worthwhile one. [1] 366 Weird Movies described it as an experimental film... with psychedelic backgrounds. Very creative for a no-budget production, and we do love the tagline "this plan 9 goes to 11!" [2]
