Godzilla, also known as Gojira, is the titular daikaijū, that first appeared in Ishirō Honda's 1954 classic film Godzilla (aka Gojira). Since then, Godzilla has gone on to become a worldwide pop culture icon starring in over 28 films produced by Toho Co., Ltd., and 1 film by Legendary Pictures with a future trilogy in production. The 1998 version, produced by TriStar Pictures and featuring Zilla, is widely disfavoured and is not considered a Godzilla film.
