Grudge Match is a 2013 American sports comedy directed by Peter Segal, written by Tim Kelleher and Rodney Rothman, and starring Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro, both of whom have had previous boxing film success with Rocky and Raging Bull respectively.

Grudge Match was previously scheduled for a January 10, 2014 release but was later moved to December 25, 2013.

Two retired boxers Billy "The Kid" McDonnen (De Niro) and Henry "Razor" Sharp (Stallone) have a thirty years old grudge which hasn't subsided yet. It revolves around the fact that that Razor had retired the night before the match for the title thus destroying both of their careers. As the time passes one of them becomes a rich playboy and the other one went down in poverty. Now they have an opportunity to get the score even with one last match, in which they both have their respective interest to participate in, but the one in common is getting the score even. The match went viral as someone took a video of the two fighting while trying to get some CGI effects for the video game that was about to be made. However it will be hard to keep calm with all the popularity the match got with social networks and with the training they both gave up long ago.[1]

  • The video game plot device is similar to that of the 2006 film Rocky Balboa, in which a computer simulated fight on ESPN depicting a hypothetical bout between a young Rocky Balboa and the current champion inspires an actual bout between the two.
