Indiana Jones is an action-adventure franchise and fictional universe created by George Lucas. The story of Indiana Jones started with the first film, Raiders of the Lost Ark, (later retitled Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Lost Ark), released on June 12, 1981.
All existing films in the franchise were directed by George Lucas and co-directed by Steven Spielberg, with the exception of the upcoming fifth installment, which will be directed by James Mangold.
