Plot
A group of explorers make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.

The film set an IMAX opening record worldwide with $20.5 million from 574 IMAX theaters, surpassing the $17.1 million record held by The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and is also the best opening for an IMAX 2D, non-sequel and November IMAX release. The film had a worldwide opening of $132.6 million which is the tenth largest opening of 2014. It reached a milestone of $200 million in 6 days, $300 million in 10 days, $400 million in 17 days $500 million in 24 days and $600 million in 37 days. It is the tenth highest-grossing film of 2014. Interstellar is the fourth film to gross over $100 million worldwide from IMAX ticket sales. It trails Avatar, The Dark Knight Rises and Gravity in total IMAX box office revenue

On Metacritic, another review aggregator, the film has a score of 74 out of 100 on based on 46 critics, indicating "generally favorable reviews".
