Itsy Bitsy Spider is a 1992 American animated science fantasy-comedy short film written and directed by Matthew O'Callaghan, loosely based on the homonymous rhyme and released with the movie Bébé's Kids. It features Frank Welker as the title character and Langston the cat, and Jim Carrey (in his 15th film role) as the Exterminator. In the film, there is a happy-go-lucky city girl called Leslie who has spider friend named Itsy. It was rated PG by the MPAA for sci-fi cartoon violence.

This short film was a kid-friendly version of The Terminator and RoboCop, as well as the pilot episode of the series. The film was eventually made into a television animated series, which aired on the USA Network to becoming a franchise.

Plot[]

A tomboyish city girl, Leslie goes to take piano lesson to the house of her strict piano instructor (the instructor is teaching her to play the original nursery rhyme "Itsy Bitsy Spider"). One day, the instructor gets frightened by a young spider named Itsy and calls an exterminator to kill it. The exterminator uses various extreme measures for killing Itsy after failing to accomplish the job with the more commonly used methods. However, all the attempts of the exterminator go in vain as he fails to kill the spider while his extreme measures cause pain to himself, damage the house of the piano instructor and cause pain to her pet cat, Langston. However, he turns out to be a heavily armed robot. His methods begin to get even more extreme, escalating from poison and vacuums to guns and explosives, until the instructor's house is eventually blown up. At the end, Itsy is reunited with Leslie (who got out of the instructor's house before the exterminator starts using the flamethrowers) and the two of them go home to the big city.
