John Ingle (born May 7, 1928, Tulsa, Oklahoma is an actor who played the role of the Surgeon General in 1990's RoboCop 2.

He is best known for his long-running role as evil patriarch Edward Quartermaine on the ABC daytime drama, General Hospital.

Ingle took over the role of Edward in 1993 and continued until December 2003, when the show dropped him from contract to recurring status. Without a contract to keep him at "GH", Ingle was free to court other offers and accepted the contract role of Mickey Horton, as a recast for the retiring John Clarke, on the NBC soap opera, Days of our Lives. Once there, he became part of a love triangle story involving Bonnie (Judi Evans Luciano) and Maggie (Suzanne Rogers), a far cry from the "old man" that some brass at "GH" reputed the character of Edward to be. He can now be seen on HBO's Big Love.

Ingle returned to the role of Edward in 2006, but this time without his onscreen wife, actress Anna Lee, who died in 2004.

Ingle graduated from Verdugo Hills High School in Tujunga, Los Angeles, CA. From 1964 until 1984, he taught acting at Beverly Hills High School in Beverly Hills, California, where his pupils included Academy Award-winning actor Nicolas Cage.
