Trivia[]
- At the beginning of the film, when Johnny English and Bough meet Agent One, English is wearing the same suit that Atkinson's Mr. Bean character wears.
- The shower cap that Johnny English wears during the video played at the coronation can also briefly be seen as a background prop in the opening title sequence. It does not appear at any other point in the film.
- During the coronation scene, Bough threatens a man to play a DVD. That man is the film's director, Peter Howitt.
- In addition to parodying James Bond, the film is also based on a series of Barclaycard advertisements Atkinson starred in the 1990s.
- The Aston Martin that Johnny English drives is actually Rowan Atkinson's own car.
- According to his laptop, Bough's first name is Angus. However, it is not spoken or acknowledged in film, and Johnny English Strikes Again establishes it to be Jeremy.
- When Johnny English and Bough return to the Tower of London to investigate the theft of the jewels, you can see English put his coat on and immediately take it off again, likely trying to appear "cool".
Mistakes[]
- When Johnny English and Bough are in the cemetery, Bough is holding English's gun in one shot. In the next, it's gone.
- Similarly, in the cemetery scene, the grieving family members move places between shots.
- When Johnny English is photographed by the speed camera, the date March 21, 2003, is shown. In a later scene, when Sauvage's henchmen force the Queen to abdicate, the date March 20, 2003 is shown.
- At the start of the hearse chase, when Klein and Vendetta pull a 90-degree handbrake turn, you can see the skid marks from the previous take on the road.
- During the hearse chase, when Bough says "they're too far ahead", Johnny replies "they were heading south" and turns the steering wheel to the right. However, in the next shot, the truck turns left.
- When Johnny and Lorna are in the sushi restaurant, Lorna says "cheers" in Japanese. Johnny, not knowing what he's talking about, responds with "may all your daughters be born with small penises" in Japanese, however the English subtitle read "may all your daughters be born with three bottoms".
- When Johnny lands in the hospital instead of Sauvage's headquarters, there is a sign behind him which uses the American spelling of "Orthopedics" instead of the British "Orthopaedics".
- When Johnny and Bough swap places in the truck, the truck continues to accelerate smoothly.
- In the scene in the garage shortly before Johnny is about to "strike like a coiled viper" he talks to Bough via his wrist walkie talkie - only he talks into his RIGHT wrist while the walkie talkie is on his left.
- At the end of the film, a newsreader states that Sauvage is awaiting trial for high treason, "a crime that still carries the death penalty". However, the death penalty was abolished in the United Kingdom during 2003, when this film was set.
- The newsreader also describes Johnny as "the unnamed MI7 agent", however the newspaper article in the next scene name him. Not only that, the article also suggests Sauvage will face "long term jail time", contradicting the death penalty claim.
- At the end of the film, when Lorna lands in the swimming pool, you can see Bough uncross his legs and look in shock. When the camera cuts back to Lorna, you can see Bough repeat those same actions in the background.
- Sauvage declares that he is going to turn England into a prison, but the graphic he is displaying puts the prison walls around the entire island of Great Britain.
- When Bough is telling Johnny and Pegasus about the two criminals working for Sauvage, he calls Vendetta "Klaus", and indeed, the screen in front of them shows this. However, the end credits put his name as "Carlos".
- Lorna Campbell states that she is an Interpol agent in France. However, she is later assigned to replace Johnny English in MI7, which shouldn't be possible as she is not employed by them.
- When Johnny English is dismissed from the MI7, Pegasus incorrectly states that he insulted the Foreign Secretary at Sauvage's party. In reality, he sexually assaulted her, spilling wine over her and fainting onto her breasts, but he didn't say anything besides mumbling "Foreign Secretary." The line could be referring to a deleted scene, in which he actually DOES insult her, but this scene took place at Agent One's funeral and not Sauvage's party.
Deleted Scenes[]
- Johnny English stops the Foreign Secretary's car at Agent One's funeral, and holds the driver at gunpoint, accusing him of lying and giving a rather insulting description of the Foreign Secretary. The camera cuts to show the woman he just insulted sitting in the seat behind the driver.
- Johnny English walks out of a clothing shop admiring his new suit, and accidentally walks into a newsstand before leaving awkwardly.
- Sir Anthony Chevenix is revealed to be traitor working for Sauvage. However, after demanding more money, he is incinerated by Sauvage, and Vendetta vacuums his ashes.
- Rowan Atkinson plays an additional character called Baron de Witt, an advisor to Sauvage and rival claimant to the throne. He is murdered by Sauvage after the floor of his elevator is opened, with de Witt inside.
