Mark Richard Hamill (born September 25, 1951) is an American actor, writer, producer, and director. He is best known for portraying the hero Luke Skywalker in Star Wars Original Trilogy (1977-1983) and reprised the role in the sequel trilogy films Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (2015), Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017), and Star Wars: Episode IX. He is also well known for his role as Pvt. Griff in The Big Red One starring alongside Lee Marvin in this 1980 war movie. Other early films in his career are Corvette Summer (1978), then Slipstream (1989), The Guyver (1991), and Time Runner (1993). In recent decades, he has become a prolific voice actor, most notably as The Joker in a number of Batman films, television series, and video games (beginning with Batman: The Animated Series in 1992).
