Mark Richard Hamill (born September 25, 1951) is an American actor, writer, producer, and director. He is best known for portraying the hero Luke Skywalker in Star Wars Original Trilogy (1977-1983) and will reprise the role in the upcoming anticipated sequel Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (2015). He is also well known for his role as Pvt. Griff in The Big Red One starring alongside Lee Marvin in this 1980 war movie. Other early films in his career are Corvette Summer (1978), then Slipstream (1989), The Guyver (1991), and Time Runner (1993). In recent decades, he has become a prolific voice actor, most notably as The Joker in a number of Batman films, television series, and video games (beginning with Batman: The Animated Series in 1992).
