My Bloody Valentine is a 1981 Canadian horror film directed by George Mihalka.
Plot[]
My Bloody Valentine (1981) is a Canadian slasher film set in the mining town of Valentine Bluffs, where a tragic accident occurred 20 years prior. A methane gas explosion trapped several miners underground after their supervisors abandoned their posts to attend a Valentine's Day dance. The sole survivor, Harry Warden, was driven mad by the ordeal and later murdered the negligent supervisors, leaving a chilling warning that the town should never hold another Valentine's celebration. Now, two decades later, the town's young residents decide to revive the tradition, only to find themselves stalked by a masked killer in mining gear, who begins a gruesome killing spree.
As the body count rises, the townspeople fear that Harry Warden has returned to make good on his deadly promise. The film follows a group of friends, including T.J., Sarah, and Axel, as they try to survive the blood-soaked chaos while uncovering the truth behind the murders. With its eerie underground setting, brutal kills, and suspenseful atmosphere, My Bloody Valentine has earned a cult following over the years. Despite initial censorship that cut several minutes of gore, the film remains a standout in the slasher genre, known for its chilling villain and memorable Valentine’s Day horror theme.
