Paul Calderon

Paul Calderon is a Puerto Rican film and television actor. Calderon was born in 1959. He began his career with roles in the soap opera As the World Turns and the crime drama Miami Vice. He has been a mainstay of East coast film and television productions from the 1990s onwards. He co-starred in the Al Pacino film Sea of Love (1989) written by Richard Price. Calderon featured in the Abel Ferrara films King of New York (1990) and Bad Lieutenant (1992). He had a small role in Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction (1994) as Paul the bartender. He shared scenes with Bruce Willis and Ving Rhames. He reteamed with Ferrara for the vampire drama The Addiction (1995). He also had a small role in the ensemble cast of Kiss of Death (1995). He worked with Tarantino on his segment of Four Rooms (1995) entitled "The Man from Hollywood". Calderon played Norman and featured in scenes with Tim Roth, Willis, and Tarantino himself. Calderon also featured in Clockers (1995) directed by Spike Lee and adapted from a Richard Price novel. Calderon played Jesus, the manager of fast food franchise Hambones the location of the film's pivotal murder.

He had a supporting role in the ensemble cast of CopLand (1997) directed by James Mangold and starring Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro. He was cast by Steven Soderbergh in his crime drama Out of Sight (1998), adapted from a book by Elmore Leonard. Calderon played Detective Raymond Cruz, a friend of leading character US Marshall Karen Sisco played by Jennifer Lopez.

He has had numerous supporting roles in television series. He has featured in several entries of the Law & Order franchise including the original Law & Order, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order: Trial by Jury. He also appeared in Third Watch and New York Undercover. He appeared in the pilot episode of Paul Haggis' short lived crime drama The Black Donnellys. He reunited with Tim Roth on his series Lie To Me. He appeared in the boxing drama Lights Out in 2011. He had a recurring role in the HBO crime drama Boardwalk Empire as Cuban bodyguard Arquimedes in 2014, working closely with the series star Steve Buscemi. He appeared in the network crime series Blue Bloods and The Blacklist. He was a recurring cast member of zombie spinoff Fear the Walking Dead in 2016. He had a major recurring role in Bosch based on the book series by Michael Connelly as veteran homicide detective Santiago "Jimmy" Robertson from 2017 to 2019.
