[The short opens with Jordan ringing the doorbell on Riley’s new house. Bill opened it and saw the kid.]
Jordan: Is Riley here?
[In Bill’s head…]
Bill’s Anger: Red alert!
[Bill’s Fear slams the button and the alarm rings out in Bill’s Head.]
Alarm: BOY! BOY! BOY!
[Cut to Riley’s parents having a conversation about the boy in the house. Jordan was busy staring into space.]
Bill Andersen: There's a boy in my house.
Jill Andersen: I knew she was going skating, but I thought it was with her friends.
Bill Andersen: Why is there a boy in my house?
Jill Andersen: This isn't a date, is it? I’ll ask Riley.
[As Jill goes upstairs, we go inside her head to see her emotions.]
Jill’s Anger: I don’t like this.
Jill’s Fear: This can’t be a date! She’s only 12!
Jill’s Sadness: Let’s probe, but lay her with cool words the kids say, so it’s not obvious.
[As Riley packs her things in her backpack, Jill stands by her door.]
Jill Andersen: So, what’s the dealio? Jordan. OMG! He was awesome sauce! Fo shizzy!
[Riley stops, and her emotions respond with confusion and embarrassment.]
Joy: Did she just say “fo shizzy?”
Sadness: I don’t understand. What’s happening?
Disgust: Ugh, this is just embarrassing. I can’t. I can’t.
Jill Andersen: (offscreen) Holla!
[Riley’s emotions cringe at the mother’s pathetic attempt at being cool. Downstairs, Bill was glaring at Jordan. On his emotions...]
Bill’s Anger: I know what you're doing here, Jordan. You don't think that I know what you know but I know you, little punk.
Bill’s Fear: He’s not good enough for Riley. No one is!
Bill’s Sadness: Go back to jail!
Bill’s Anger: What are you lookin' for, Jordan, something to steal?
Bill’s Sadness: Like our daughter.
Bill’s Fear: Should we say something?
Bill’s Anger: No, no, no. He'll be expecting that. Give him the silent treatment. He’s about to crack. I can feel it.
[Bill gives Jordan the silent treatment, but the boy didn’t say anything.]
Bill’s Fear: Sir, no response.
Bill’s Anger: Two can play at your mind games, Jordan. Intimidate!
[Bill’s Fear pushes a button that says “Man up” several times, making Bill man up to Jordan. Inside Jordan’s head, his emotions were slacking off. Three were busy riding skateboards in their headquarters.]
Jordan's Fear: Dude.
Jordan's Joy: What?
Jordan's Fear: What are you lookin' at?
Jordan's Joy: Probably your dumb hat.
[Fear tackles Joy, and Disgust laughs while riding a skateboard. However, she trips and hits a button, making Jordan chuckle a bit.]
Bill’s Fear: Sir, intimidation is failing.
Bill’s Anger: Dah, increase the pressure. Engage.
[Cut to the humans.]
Bill Andersen: So Jordan, what do you like to do for fun?
Jordan: I dunno, stuff.
[Cut to Bill’s emotions.]
Bill’s Fear: Sir, that sounds like backtalk.
Bill’s Anger: (growls) That’s it! He’s out of here! Give him the boot!
Bill’s Fear: Yes, sir. Launching boot.
[The alarm rings and the emotions strapped their seatbelts. A lever was raised to Bill’s Fear, ready to launch the boot.]
Bill’s Anger: On my mark! In 5! 4! 3!
[Cut to the humans.]
Jordan: Oh, I play in a band. That’s fun.
[Hearing this, Bill’s Anger stops the procedure.]
Bill’s Anger: Wait! We were in a band.
[Bill’s Fear activates a memory that shows Bill playing guitar to AC/DC’s “Back in Black.” Back in his prime, he had long hair and was in a band once.]
Bill Andersen: I was in a band, lead guitar.
Jordan: Cool. I rock bass.
Bill Andersen: We played a lot of ACDC.
Jordan: Yeah, my favorite band is AC/DC.
[They look at each other, having discovered a common liking for AC/DC.]
Jordan: What?
[Back in Riley’s room…]
Riley: Mom, ew! It’s not a date. We’re going skating with a group of friends.
Jill Andersen: Ooh, fun! That’ll be off the hook. LOL.
[Cut to Riley’s emotions.]
Anger: Stop talking like that!
Fear: Wait, where’s Jordan?
[Cut to the humans.]
Riley: Did you leave Jordan with Dad? Mom, this is so embarrassing.
Jill Andersen: Riley, your father would never do any…..
[However, music blared from the living room. Riley went downstairs and saw her dad and Jordan jamming out to AC/DC, the former kicking down the table. Later, she and Jordan leave to go skating with their friends.]
Riley: Bye, Mom. Bye, Dad.
Bill Andersen: Have fun.
Jill Andersen: Peace out, my homies.
Bill Andersen: You know, Jordan’s a good kid.
Jill Andersen: You’re not so bad yourself.
[On Bill’s emotions…]
Bill’s Fear: Sir, the wife has initiated contact. What do we do?
Bill’s Anger: This is our chance. Give her the look.
[Bill’s Fear pressed a big red button, making Bill give Jill a loving look. On her emotions...]
Jill’s Disgust: He’s making that stupid face again.
Jill’s Anger: Ugh, should we smack him?
Jill’s Joy: Come on, he’s adorable.
[Jill prepares to give Bill a kiss.]
Bill’s Sadness: There’s the signal.
Bill’s Fear: We are go! Repeat, we are go!
Bill’s Anger: Contact in 5! 4! 3! 2!
[The parents then kiss each other, and Bill’s emotions celebrate in victory. In Jill’s head, her emotions watch as “Take My Breath Away” plays.]
Jill’s Sadness: I’m good. You guys good?
[Jill’s emotions agree, and the kiss ends.]
Jill Andersen: Okay, that’s enough.
Bill Andersen: Um, yeah. Uh… I’ll go fix the table.
[He closed the door and the scene cuts to black, ending the short.]
