River Jude Phoenix (born River Jude Bottom; August 23, 1970 – October 31, 1993) was an American actor, musician, and activist. He was best known is films such as Stand By Me and Running on Empty. He is the brother of actor Joaquin Phoenix.
Early life[]
Phoenix was born in Madras Oregon, and by the time he was 18, he said that he had moved at least 40 times. He and his family were in the known cult Children Of God, and Phoenix told interviewers that he was sexually assaulted at the age of 4. The late actor had 4 siblings, Joaquin (Leaf), Liberty, Summer and Rain phoenix. He had no formal schooling but showed an instinctive talent for the guitar at age 5.
