Screwballs is a 1983 Canadian teen sex comedy film, inspired by the success of Porky's.

The film was directed by Rafal Zielinski and starred Peter Keleghan, Lynda Speciale, Linda Shayne and Kent Deuters.

Plot[]

Set in 1965, the film is about four high school boys who want revenge on a virginal teenage girl (Linda Speciale).

"Screwballs" was filmed in Ontario, Canada.

The drive-in scenes were filmed at the TePee Drive-In in Pickering, Ontario, Canada and the scenes at the strip club were filmed at the Filmores Hotel in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Box Office[]

"Screwballs" had a limited release in the United States, opening at #15 at the box office, grossing $210,000 during its opening weekend in 75 theaters.

The film's widest theatrical release was in 128 theaters and its domestic gross was $2,082,215.

Critical Reception[]

Variety magazine called the film "a poor man’s Porky’s... full of youthful exuberance and proves utterly painless to watch, but it is so close in premise and tone to its model that negative comparisons can’t help but be drawn".

Roger Ebert gave the movie one star, calling the jokes "recycled from every dirty joke book in history".
