Ending changed?[]

Over on the Brazil page it says:

As with Blade Runner, a version of the film was created by the movie studio with a more consumer-friendly "happy ending".

Couldn't see any mention of this. What is it about? Martin.leese 07:21, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

It's true, there was a change in endings. I just brought over a section from WP explaining the various versions. The 1982 version was a "happy ending" in which Deckard and Rachel drove off into the sunset, as it were, and the implication (reinforced by the narration) was that they spent many years together, despite Rachel being a Replicant. The Director's Cut, which supposedly reflected Ridley Scott's original intent, was darker. It simply ended with an elevator closing. Narration was also cut in the Director's Cut, and a "dream sequence" in which Deckard dreams something that has various interpretations (being deliberately vague here) is added in, or added back in. I'm torn about the changes. I liked the film noir aspect of the narration, and didn't mind the original ending - which I saw in the theatres back in 1982 - at all. - Nhprman 19:48, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
