Tom and Jerry: Robin Hood and His Merry Mouse is a 2012 animated direct-to-video film, produced by Warner Bros. Animation and Turner Entertainment. The movie features the beloved animated duo, Tom and Jerry, alongside Robin Hood, his band of merry men, and a variety of other characters integrated into the film.
Plot[]
In Sherwood Forest, Robin Hood and his trusty companion Jerry are plotting an ambush on a tax money transport rumbling through the shadows of the ancient trees. Unbeknownst to them, the transport is a trap set by the sinister Sheriff of Nottingham and Prince John's devious henchcat, Tom. As the transport rolls through the forest, Jerry gets wind of the plot and alerts Robin, summoning the Merry Men to the scene.
When the transport is surrounded, Robin Hood and his band ambush the ambushers, seizing the gold and escaping with the loot. However, this victory is short-lived; back at the castle, the Sheriff deduces to Prince John with Maid Marion present, that Robin uses Jerry to relay messages from a spy within the castle and orders Tom to capture the clever mouse to flush out the traitor.
That very night, Robin Hood enlists Jerry's help to deliver a love poem to his secret crush, the lovely Maid Marian. However, Tom has taken it upon himself to keep Marian company. As Jerry approaches the castle, Tom, intent on thwarting the mouse's mission, tries to capture him but fails spectacularly.
Meanwhile, the Sheriff schemes to entrap Robin by announcing a staged archery tournament, promising a kiss from Marian as an enticing reward. Robin, unable to resist the temptation, decides to participate, despite the protests from his Merry Men. As Jerry races to deliver a ring of love from Robin to Marian, a chaotic chase ensues with Tom. In a twist of fate, Jerry inadvertently helps Robin win the contest, but when the Sheriff unmasks him, it leads to Robin and his Merry Men being captured.
With Robin imprisoned, Jerry, the only Merry Man left at large besides a few loyal friends (Spike, Tyke, and Friar Droopy), infiltrates the castle to free his companions. However, he runs into trouble when Tom discovers him. During a comical tussle in Marian's room, they attract the Sheriff’s attention, leading to Marian’s imprisonment when the Sheriff realizes she is Robin’s informant.
Tom finally captures Jerry, but their squabbling leads to a chance discovery by the Sheriff that King Richard, the rightful King of England, is on his way home from the Crusades—much earlier than expected. Alarmed, John and the Sheriff plot to assassinate Richard upon his arrival and decide to execute Marian for her "treachery." Disillusioned by John's plans, Tom revokes his loyalty and joins forces with Jerry to rescue Robin and the Merry Men.
As John, the Sheriff, and their henchmen ride off to set their trap for Richard, Spike, Tyke, and Droopy sneak into the castle and, unbeknownst to them, manage to free Marian. When Spike uncovers the ambush location, it sets the stage for a dramatic rescue. Just as the trap is set for Richard, Tom, Jerry, Robin, and the Merry Men storm in to thwart the assassination attempt.
In the ensuing chaos, Robin and Richard find themselves cornered by John and the Sheriff. Just when it seems all hope is lost, Tom and Jerry leap into action, engaging the two villains in a swordfight. Their unexpected intervention allows Robin and Richard to escape their predicament, and soon, all gather for a final confrontation.
With teamwork and quick thinking, Robin and his Merry Men overpower John and the Sheriff, capturing them at last. King Richard, grateful for their bravery, reinstates Robin and his band as heroes of the realm. In a joyous celebration, Robin Hood and Maid Marian unite in marriage, while Tom and Jerry, now reformed and celebrated as the "Merry Cat and Mouse," receive knighthood for their loyal service to the crown.
As the festivities continue, a comedic moment arises when Jerry, in a moment of playful mischief, accidentally pokes Tom with his sword. However, understanding their bond has grown through adventure, Tom quickly forgives Jerry, solidifying their friendship as they embark on future escapades together.

Notes[]
- This movie uses elements from The Tom and Jerry Show (1975) episode "Robin Ho Ho".
- Robin Ho Ho is not in the movie, but is replaced by the original Robin Hood.
- Robin Hood's Merry Men return with different appearances.
- The Sheriff of Nottingham appears again as the primary antagonist.
- This movie also uses elements from the original Tom and Jerry theatrical cartoon short "Robin Hoodwinked" as well:
- The film also reuses the same premise of Jerry saving Robin Hood from execution from the Tom and Jerry cartoon "Robin Hoodwinked", although here it does not majorly take up as the main premise of this film.
- The original Robin Hood returns, once again as a human. Except this time, instead of being depicted in silhouette form, he is depicted in full form, and he plays a much larger role in the film.
- Robin Hood's unnamed Merry Men appear with different appearances. Like Robin, instead of being portrayed in silhouette form, here, they can be seen in full forms, and they even play larger roles in the story.
- Jerry appears as Robin Hood's friend and helper, although this this time Tuffy does not appear.
- Tom appears taking the side of the antagonist against Robin Hood and Jerry, though here he eventually reforms and takes sides with Jerry and Robin Hood by the film's climax.
- This film is dedicated to the memory of Earl Kress, who died a year prior to the film's release.
- This film shares several similarities to that of Walt Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs:
- In this version of Robin Hood, Prince John is similar to the Evil Queen from Walt Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
- Sheriff of Nottingham and Prince John's guards are similar to the huntsman from Walt Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
- This is the second appearance of Tin, Pan and Alley, following Tom and Jerry Meet Sherlock Holmes.
- Tom and Jerry from this movie return in Tom and Jerry: Chase as Guard Tom and Robin Hood Jerry, except that this time they have been retconned as completely different characters from the actual Tom and Jerry.
- This is the first film where Droopy is voiced by Joe Alaskey instead of Jeff Bergman, who previously voiced him in Tom and Jerry Meet Sherlock Holmes. After Alaskey's death in 2016, Bergman replaced him starting with Tom and Jerry: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
