This blog is to announce that I will be working on adopting this wiki. I'm an admin here so there's a lot I can do for maintenance and updates. But there are limitations on how far an admin can promote or demote other users. Full user rights changes for anything specific to a wiki are handled by bureaucrats. Our only bureaucrat has been gone for almost three years now and hasn't responded to any of the messages I left for them. The only other admin beside myself has been gone for a year. |

As discussed in the account requirement blog, this is a big wiki. We need more than just one person to run it and handle problems. We need a team and we can't get there without someone who can promote people up to administrator and/or bureaucrat level. That's what adopting this wiki will allow me to do.
With bureaucrat rights, we'll be able to start on the things that I outlined in the Moviepedia… Assemble blog. If I've got other people to help me run Moviepedia, that will give me time to work on advanced features like a process that would automatically update our Main Page to show what's in theaters, what's coming soon and displaying other news.
On a side note, to clear up some confusion from earlier this year, a bureaucrat isn't some kind of "super admin" and doesn't decide who can or can't edit here. Their role is to change user rights. They have to be responsible and trustworthy in doing so. A lot of wikis have bureaucrats who are also admins, but those two roles are not locked together.
To help with the adoption process, please say in a comment whether you approve or disapprove of this. Reasons for or against are welcome so I know what I need to work on in the coming weeks. These will also help show that people have read this announcement so it isn't an adoption by default. "Well, no one said no, so I guess that means they approve."
Commenting and voting on this will run through Wednesday, December 15, 2021. If there are no objections that can't be addressed, I'll turn in the adoption notice on Friday the 17th.
