The shift in editing over to pages for the movies, characters, actors, directors, composers, crew and galleries is now fully in effect. More details are available in the progress report.

For those who are new and are wondering about why this was necessary, read the shift in editing starting March 1st blog.

Here's a progress report on the need to shift what is being edited to the more important parts, namely pages for the movies, characters, actors, directors, composers, crew and galleries.

As of today, all of the Home Media and Supplement pages have been locked down. Most weren't protected until just this week because I couldn't find a way to automate it. I could only reduce how much time it took. When you're looking at about 5,500 pages, it's tedious doing it by hand. I finally just had to spend most of a day doing it to get it done.

Now that the editing shift is fully in effect, I will be looking at the following to evaluate how effective it is:

  • People leave and don't come back, especially if Home Media and Supplement pages were the only type they edited (or a large majority).
  • People wait until the pages are unlocked and go right back to editing them.
  • If editing shifts over to other pages, but they are the pages like Credits and Transcripts, leaving pages about the movies, actors, etc., still being neglected.
  • Whether pages that had been neglected for far too long start getting the attention they need.

I'm hoping this is the only time I'll have to do this. But unless we can start getting this wiki in focus, we'll do it again, and the next time, the forced shift in editing will be longer and more narrowly-focused.
