What Happened, Miss Simone? (2015) is an American biographical documentary about singer and activist Nina Simone. Directed by Liz Garbus, the film opened the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and was followed by a tribute performance from John Legend. The film was released by Netflix on June 26, 2015. The title of the film was taken from a Maya Angelou quote.

Unlike the 2016 film "Nina", this film met with the approval of Simone's estate. Nina's daughter Lisa Simone Kelly served as one of the documentary's executive producers.
